Venice Design Week – Special Event at Ca Nigra

Venice Design Week: A Design Festival in the Heart of Venice

The Venice Design Week (VDW) is an annual festival dedicated to design that takes place in the enchanting city of Venice. Started in 2010, every October the Venetian lagoon comes alive with a series of events ranging from exhibitions to conferences, meetings, competitions, and guided tours. These events unfold in a unique setting where history and modernity merge, and where different cultures meet and interact.

VDW is not just an event, but an experience intertwined with the Venetian urban fabric, winding through alleys and squares, private galleries, museums, artist studios, shops, and traditional workshops. It’s an unmissable opportunity to connect and engage with both established and emerging designers, international companies, artisans, architects, and an enthusiastic audience.

We have carefully selected shops and artisan workshops that welcome the public throughout the year. However, it’s important to note that some artisans require an appointment for visits. During the upcoming Design Week, special guided tours are planned. The VDW Map is an essential tool to wander around the city and discover unique places. It’s crucial to pay attention to activities marked as temporary, as they will be accessible only during VDW 2023, from October 7th to 15th. Download the Map here

The festival also offers a map, the VDW Map, guiding visitors through various points of interest, allowing them to discover hidden beauties or participate in round tables and talks in a lively international setting. Each year, VDW chooses a new theme for the edition, exploring how it reflects in the world of design, interior design, and architecture. For the 2023 edition, the chosen theme revolves around “SYNESTHESIA” in design.

Venice Design Week is organized by the Arte e Design Venezia association and is part of the Italian Design Weeks and World Design Weeks associations. It has received patronage from the Veneto Region and the City of Venice and collaborates with various museums and cultural institutions in the city.

Special Event: Upcycling Outdoor Design by Magogà

Another must-attend event during Venice Design Week will be held at the Ca’ Nigra Lagoon Resort, located at Campiello S. Simeone Grande 927, Venice. The exhibition “Upcycling Outdoor Design by Magogà” will be open every day from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.

On October 15, 2023, at 6:30 pm, there will be a special opportunity to meet Magogà and the students of the Big Rock School. Booking in advance is recommended as seats are limited. To book, you can request a ticket by clicking on the <RED BUTTON> or directly contact rsvp@venicedesignweek.it.

The “Upcycling Outdoor Design” project focuses on creating designs for indoor and outdoor spaces with a strong emphasis on sustainability. The materials used to craft the displayed items come from repurposed kitesurf sails. This project was carried out in collaboration with the students of the Big Rock School in Roncade (H Farm), aiming to raise awareness among the new generations towards a sustainable vision for the planet’s future. The initiative is sponsored by AEMILIAwork.net.

This event represents a unique opportunity to dive into the world of sustainable design and discover how waste materials can be transformed into unique and innovative design objects. Don’t miss this opportunity during Venice Design Week 2023!
